Frequenty Asked Questions

What’s the deal with 3.2 or 4.0 beer?
There are two ways of measuring the alcohol content of beer, by weight or by volume. Utah uses the weight standard. A beer measuring 3.2% alcohol by weight, measures 4.0% alcohol by volume. So when comparing Utah beers to other brews, remember the difference.

What’s the difference between ales and lagers?
Beer can be divided into two groups based upon the method of fermentation. Ales are fermented with ale yeast (top fermentation), and do best at a higher temperature (65’ - 70’F). Ales typically exhibit a high ester (fruity) profile. Lagers are fermented with lager yeast (bottom fermenting), which prefer a cooler environment (54’ - 50’F). Lagers also under go a longer cold conditioning period than do ales.

If I live out of state, can you ship beer to me?
Currently, laws prohibit us from shipping beer. In the meantime, we can sell you all kinds of t-shirts, hats, and other non-beer items from our store.

How do you brew beer?
To brew the highest quality beer possible, we use only the freshest ingredients including imported and domestic malted barley and hops, special Bavarian yeasts, and reverse osmosis treated water.

Is beer good for you?
According to Benjamin Franklin, beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Beyond that, the grains in beer actually make it rich in B-vitamins and minerals.
